Learning, the NFDN Way...

 At NFDN we use a range of books (focus stories) to support our curriculum and guide the children's learning. We create an "invitation to play" by creating an activity around a focus story. These activities have an intentional learning outcome that can be adapted to the children's abilities.

We teach the children during these activities by scaffolding, role modelling, demonstrating and encouraging new language, skills, understanding and knowledge.

We create an engaging environment with open ended resources and activities for the children to explore, create and learn.

We use our knowledge of each individual child and in the moment learning to extend the children's knowledge across all areas. 

When the children are engaged in open ended activities, we can adapt our interactions to the individual child to help them progress in their next steps.

We follow children's interests to get a high level of involvement, this is when the best teaching practice takes place.
